Is stage 1b still considered early stage melanoma, or is it only stage 0 and 1a?  The depth of my melanoma was 1.8, and there was no nodal involvement, but I sometimes feel afraid to hope it could be considered early and that I may be "done" so to speak with melanoma.  Thank you so much for your advice and words of wisdom. I am in awe of the incredible warriors I read about on this site. I only pray that I could have the strength you have shown.

Think about it.  Stage 0 thru stage 4.  1 seems pretty early in the scheme of things.  πŸ™‚  Anything that is still localized (not stage III/IV) is early.  So you're better off than stage IIA,IIB,IIC but not as well off as stage 0,1A.

Stage 1B for 22 years now with 2 stage IB primaries, 1 in situ.

Hope away.  If for some reason it were to come back, you can worry about it then.  Why worry about it now???  πŸ™‚

You are right.  It seems like common sense- I guess I have freaked myself out with searching the internet.  It feels like I only find positives about melanomas smaller than 1 mm.  Then I get afraid I'm going to leave my new baby soon- and it's a downhill spiral from there! The mind is going to be tough with this one! Thanks for the perspective, Janner.  I need to keep working on being positive!
