        Hi

4 years ago I was diagnosed with Stage T2a…Melanoma 1.01 to 2.0 mm in thickness with no ulceration.

Stage T2b is the same but with ulceration.  I underwent excision with 10cm margins.  Then I was advised to have a PET scan to check for mets  (thats metastatic melanoma). The first scan came back clear. I have been having a PET scan every year for the last four years. In Novemeber I had my fifth scan and it was also clear. I also go to a dermatologist every six months for a complete skin body check to see if there are any new melanoma`s. Fingers crossed.

My best advice to you is that you start reading up on everything you can get your hands on about melanoma.  Remember it`s you that has it and so you have to take control of your own situation.

I really good book on PET scans is the following…

PET-CT in Clinical Practice by T.B.Lynch it is published by Springer…there is a really good section on Melanoma with case histories…this book is very easy to read and not in the least technical…

        Good Luck
