Okay that didnt make sense. What I am wondering is are there always melanocytes in our biopsies or at margins no matter what but what is concerning isnif there us over population of melanocytes ir atypical melanocytes? My biopsy report stated “there seems to be a normal population of melanocytes” but I read somewhere here that when they check for margins there shouldn’t be any melanocytes left? I think I am misunderstanding something

Is epidermal hyperplasia diff than melanocytic hyperplasia?

Thank you for your input. Here is the report:

1:Multifocal epidermal necrosis, consistent with external trauma, with mild epidermal hyperplasia, .

notes: There is no evidence of melanocytic hyperplasia or any significant atypia of melanocytes or keratinocytes. SOX10 is negative for any atypia and demonstrates normal melanocytes.
