Well it turns out because of the recent brain mets and steroids, I don't qualify for any trials I was hoping for right now. The news was a little disappointing, but kind of expected and completely understandable. I know that if Zelboraf does work for me, it's only a temporary solution, which makes me a little nervous, but I remind myself a temporary solution is better than no solution, and if all works out, maybe it'll get me to a point of stability where I could qualify for a trial of some kind down the line.

I'll be seeing a doctor on Wednesday and hopefully get started on Zelboraf as soon as possible. I also have another brain MRI Monday morning to assess what might be a possible lesion or two, but might just be blood vessels. I'd be ok with either, just praying that nothing new shows up. I'm a little anxious and a little nervous at the moment, having the weekend of waiting in front of me. But I'm hanging in there and know these feelings will pass, as they have before, just have to stay focused, and remember all the things to be thankful and hopeful for. Thanks for hearing me out.
As always, I'm thinking and hoping for the best, for all of us.

Hi Kevin,
Zeloraf doesn't have to be considered temporary. If you go on MIF a gentlemen Dick has been on it 2 years! (dick_k) Kevin I am sending you great positive vibes. Others have had wonderful results with Zelboraf for over 6+ months and still going strong…
My Mom is Stage 4 doing a reinduction of Yervoy,…….

Hey Kevin, the nice thing is to know that you haven't run out of treatment options.

If Zelboraf fails, you might consider a braf/mek combo…it is approved for prior braf users….more and more, i have come to realize we must not only act as advocates for ourselves but others suffering with the beast….
Phase II Trial of Mitogen Activated Protein (MAP) Kinase Inhibition With AZD6244 and MK-2206 (Akt Inhibitor) in Patients With Relapsed (BRAF) V600E Mutant Advanced MelanomaNCT01510444
exclusions: Patients with active central nervous system (CNS) metastases are excluded. Patients with a history of CNS metastasis that have been treated must be stable for 8 weeks after completion of treatment, with image documentation required.
Study of TAK-733 in Adult Patients With Advanced Nonhematologic Malignancies
NCT00948467
exclusions:Symptomatic brain metastases
i don't know if your brain tumors are 'stable' and unsymptomatic, but if they are then there are two studies currently available when and if zelboraf fails

Kevin- you are going to beat this disease. The drugs are getting better each month. For example scientists just came out with a way to overcome Zelboraf’s resistance. Stay strong! David -

Thank you all for the replies, thoughts and information. I see a doctor in 6 hours about the results of Monday's brain MRI (hoping for stability and shrinkage, but if need be, another round of SRS would be fine, just praying nothing new is showing up, and hopefully get clearance to get off this steroid). And in 7 1/2 hours, I'll be talking to another doctor about starting the Zelboraf. Big day. Hoping and praying for the best. -Kevin
