Hello there,
My husband managed to complete all 4 doses of Yervoy 1/19/2015 with very little side effects. Scans on 3/3/2015 showed NED. My question is slowly in the past month or so the itching/rash has become worse and worse, to the point that his sleep has gotten very disrupted, I plan on calling our Oncologist Monday but I was just wondering if anybody might have some advise. He has taken Benadral, used all the creams, Sarna, Gold Bond Medicated Etc, nothing really touches it. I know they might put him on a tropical/oral cortiosteroids. Poor guy has had enought, thankfully during the day doesn't bother him nearly as much. Any thoughts?
Thanks,
Jewel

Hi Jewel, the topic has come up several times over the last year. If you go back and look up the topic you will find lots of examples of what people had found to work. Wishing you the best! Ed

I'm currently on a Yervoy/Opdivo combo trial. A really bad rash started after my first infusion. My dermatologist recommended I go on Claritin. I've used a generic version and it's helped a lot. I also take short, luke warm showers only using Dove soap, and lather up with lotion (Cera Ve) right after I get out.
Congrats on NED!!!!

Congratulations!! I tried the clarytine but I may not have taken it consistently enough. The itching isn't too bad but the rash has really spread. Someone recently posted that the natures gate colloidal oatmeal lotion mixed with a few drops of tea tree oil made their rash clear up so I will try that next.

Yes that oatmeal lotion should be great. I haven't tried it but I no longer have rashes. Some things that helped me are lathering on olive oil especially after a shower. Liquid vitamin e. There's also a plant that has a liquid but the name escapes me.
if it was me I would avoid the cortizone steroid stuff. Steroids is what they give us to tone down yervoy and pd1 when they sometimes get our immune system too boosted causing colitis. So they are needed then but for a rash I would do these more natural things. On zelboraf I had a rash from my neck to my ankles so thick you couldn't take the end of your pinky finger and find a clear spot anywhere. So yeah Ive been through that he'll on earth. Not fun.

Yes, this was a recent topic where I was the one who swears by the Nature's Gate Colloidal Oatmeal lotion (found at Whole Foods or online anywhere). Here is a link to that thread…I hope it works. I would also sometimes add some Tea Tree Essential Oil to the lotion as well, as Tea Tree is good for healing the skin. But it stinks like medicine. Ick!!!
And the plant that works to sooth the skin is Aloe. You can also go to most Whole Foods stores and actually purchase the Aloe leaf to apple directly to your skin. You may also remember using it on sunburns as a kid.
Best of luck, Laurie

I actually finished all doses, including maintenance doses. I had a lot of issues with this and was given a prescription. I’m not home now but will look and see what it is later and let you know. -
