Ive been sick since dec 31st with a really bad cold that I caught from my daughter.  I actually tested positive for the adeno virus. Had a fever for  8 days straight and was in the hospital for 4 days. Last friday was my last fever until last night. Started feeling week and took my temperature and it was 103. I took a fast tylenol and within a hour was back down to 98. My question is on each side of my neck I have a swollen lymph node maybe the size of a marble that are a little tender. I had a ct scan of my neck in hospital and all they seen was inflammation and congestion. Is this anything to worry about or is this just from my body fighting off infection. I have Yervoy scheduled for monday. Will I be allowed to do Yervoy or will the yervoy push me over the edge and make me super sick. Can somebody do yervoy with a cold? Thanks

          Hi there,

you have bloods test before taking ippi and if they pick anything up which could cause a problem then I would say they would not give it too you. If it is just a cold then it should not be a problem . If your temperature is up again they might wait till you are much better.

I had ippi lungs, liver mets it help with my tumours. What stage are you ?

Try and focus on getting better , ippi can be different in everyone side effects can be worse for some than others. I know this is a worrying time for you try and be positive and strong. Your consultant will decide if you can start the treatment but for me it was my bloods test which if ok I got the dose.

          wishing you all the best

I really do not think you want to have your Yervoy infusion until you are healthy again.  I know every time I have my infusion of IPI/NIVO I am reviewed by the DR for health and asked all types of questions about health, so I do not think they would chance giving an infusion to an un-healthy person with a drug cost of $25,000 per infusion. Call your Dr and tell him/her what your current state of health is.

Dear anon, I haven't heard of anyone not getting a treatment because of a cold. Your oncologist will do blood work before future treatments and they look at liver enzymes(Hepatitis) and kidney function and hormone panel test for Endocrinopathies. They will want to know if you have any diarrhea issues(Enterocolitis) since bowel problems happen very often and they will want to check over your skin for Dermatitis. These side effects usually don't start showing up for 4 or 5 weeks and make sure you communicate any side effects to your oncologist or his nurse. Treating the side effects early with steroids is a lot easier than if you don't let them know and the condition get too advanced. I hope the treatments work for you, best wishes!!!! Ed

Thanks for the feedback. I forgot to mention I had one 10mg dose of the yervoy. I’m left with this cold I caught from a virus. Wow is it hard to get rid of. I was hospitalized for fevers for 8 days around the clock. Then fevers went away for 6 days. Last few days I’ve been getting very low fevers at night of 100.3 just once a day. I feel as I’m ready for the second infusion and the cold is getting less and less. I’m just scared if the yervoy could make my cold get worse since I feel as I’m beating it now. So far side effects is rash that does not itch.
