My father in law has just been diagnosed and we are looking for the best melanoma specialist in the Atlanta area. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Did the physician who made the diagnosis have any recommendations for you?   Atlanta only has two health systems with melanoma programs (with physicians specializing in melanoma treatment).

          and

I have worked with patients who have been seen in both programs and who were very pleased with their care.   I have worked with both surgeons for the programs and I would be comfortable with either of them seeing any of my family members.

Thank you so much for your response! I knew about Emory's progam, but was unaware of Northside's. Very helpful information. I appreciate you taking the time to respond!

I was initially treated at Emory-Winship and also have a family tie to the derm department. Dr. Delman is an excellent surgeon and very caring provider.  Dr. Chen, who heads up the melanoma clinic is really capable as well.  It is an excellent center and a good place to start.  Piedmont recently became affiliated with MD Anderson but not sure iof it’s perfromance relative to melanoma.  Another option for a second opinion is Vanderbilt in Nashville since its only a four hour drive.  Hope that helps and good luck!
