Curious, why no scans in so long? Where were your mets? I check profile and it wasn't clear? I am just curious how you know it working if no scans but so happy for you. I hope it keeps working for a very, very long time. Also BRAF+

Hi yes I am curious they haven't scanned you either? My dad is on his 7 month and has been having monthly scans up until the 6 months mark when they go to 3 monthly scans. Regardless of that, Im glad the drugs are working and I too am hoping that this can be managed as chronic disease. I have to remain cautious because no-one can know what melanoma does in one individual to another and from the beginning we were told that there's a 0!!!! chance that the disease had spread to the blood (even I knew this was a big call considering his histology).
Anyway we all hope for the best and need to remain positive especially considering the research of current.

I am not as informed as so many of you are.Do not know when you ask for mets what they are. As for it working it was very obvious as a small growth on the neck. With in a week it shrunk and is no longer felt or visible. Will get the scans as soon as possible. All my lab blood work is always positive with good numbers when I visit oncologist. Will probably be searching for a melanoma specialist soon. Thanks for the good wishes.want the same foe all of us.

"Mets" is short for Metastasis. PETscans and/or CT scans are generally used to check for them. My understanding is that how often you have them depends on the type of treatment you've opted for and how far past the original diagnosis date you are. If your scans are clean it means the melanoma has not spread (metastasized) to other organs.
Glad to hear your labwork is good!

You go girl!! you are an inspiration. Especially since I might be on Zelboraf soon. What are the side effects? I heard warts, of all things. Does it stop working after a certain time?
stay in there!
