I’m new to the forums. My sister is about to start yervoyI’m next week. Some history:45 yrs old, had a brain tumor removed sept.2011. In January was diagnosed with melanoma in the lungs and some inner skin lesions. Started Zelboraf and had been on it since January. She recently had a seizure and a MRI. The MRI showed several brain mets. Was told Zelboraf does not work beyond the brain barrier. So we are going to start yervoy. A could of days off of Zelboraf. Does anyone know how long the sun sensitive side effects last after taking the treatment?I’m new to the forums. My sister is about to start yervoyI’m next week. …….welcome to this forum…….so sorry a loved one has been diagnosed with cancer. There are many great people on this website and you will find lot's of great feedback to your questions. Don't worry if no one answers right away or at all, just repost …..it's very unusual that no one responds but sometimes happens…..don't give up……that's our motto!! I have noticed the response is better if you create a personal profile……..not sure what that's about ……..but better response!!
I did take Ipi…but just received one dose and had such severe side effects, it was discontinued. However, this is very unusual and most people receive the full treatment without the side effects I encountered. I do not know how long sun sensitivity will last with Zelboraf…………but I I do know that sun sensitivity might belong to all of these drugs, not sure but better to be safe than sorry……so use the strongest sunscreen and stay out of the sun as much as possible……..which would be common sense for anyone dealing with melanoma. Good Luck…….to you and your family as you struggle with this melanoma diagnosis…….take care and alway post your concerns, questions, progress and triumphants!
