On the topic of residual melanoma, what conclusions can be drawn from the WLE?
My original Breslow was: 2.85mm but no clear deep margins.
On the WLE 7 weeks later: 1.47mm. The wound had obviouly healed.
Am I to understand that the two measurements are related? How so?

You can't infer anything from the WLE depth. Your melanoma is at least 2.85mm. That's all you know. You cannot line up the depth of a WLE sample with the depth of a biopsy. From the way the biopsy is done, you slice the specimen after processing it in paraffin and do the same with the WLE. There is no way to align the two samples so the only one with any depth value is the biopsy. The WLE basically describes margins.
