Tomorrow is my first day of ipi (yervoy).  I'm a little nervous about potential symptoms, but other than that, I'm hoping and praying that this treatment will work for me. It's my birthday on Saturday, so that has to bring me some kind of luck ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a busy month ahead of me – my birthday, a wedding to go to, moving into a house – all celebratory things which has been keeping my mind very busy through all this nonsense.   As much as I want to have symptoms to feel like this might be working, I hope it doesn't prevent me from enjoying all these wonderful things.

Prayers and Positive Thoughts to you all!

Ah, Lisa, our fellow "classmate"… Wishing you the very best of luck with your next treatment. Been thinking about you and boots and hoping this kicks your melanoma's butt!  : )

Hello Lisa –  We also live in Canada, my husband had lung mets followed by surgery, then brain mets followed by surgery and radiation. Last scan showed all vital organs clear and brain mets are stable. A few small spots are showing in the body. Our doctor mentioned "watchful waiting" or chemo first then ipi.  Unfortunately he tested negative for BRAF. How did you find the chemo?  Were you able to still function fairly well? I hope you do well on the ipi, it shows promising results.

Prayers and positive thoughts go out to you neighbour!! Enjoy your busy month, sounds like alot is happening to keep you busy!

                              Hi Lyndaloo,

Keeping busy is key for me as well as looking after my 22 month old daughter ๐Ÿ™‚

I'm glad to hear your husbands mets in lungs are gone after surgery. Had I only had a few spots, I would have done the same. As mentioned with dacarbazine, I tolerated it quite well and except for 3 days, was able to live life as normal.

IPI would be a good next plan for your husband if the chemo fails. Dacarbazine doesn't cross the blood/brain barrier, so you might want to try Temador since that does. If neither of these work, ipi has shown to eliminate mets in all locations, so this is promising.

                              Best of luck!

                              Lisa
