Hi, I just had surgery this past week for melanoma in situ. The area was the front of my right shoulder and I have a 3 inch incision. Am waiting for biospy reports to return to make sure that all is clear. Can anyone tell me what happens after this?
So as long as you have the required margins (at least 5mm), then that's basically it. Periodic skin checks. Watch for moles that change. Watch your scar for pigment regrowth. Practice sun safety. Melanoma in situ is handled surgically with periodic followups and that's about it. Good news on catching it early!
