      When I spoke to my Dr about my CT scan taken July 22nd, he said other than small lung mets, I had no other spead. After receiving copies of my CT, I'm reading the following:

      "Interval development of an infracarinal lymh node, short axis is 1.2cm. Otherwise, no new mediastinal or hilar lymphadenopathy"

      and then the impression is:

      "Further growth of the previously seen lung mets as well as development of a mediastinal lymph node metastasis"

      That to me is a lymph node now suggesting spread does it not?  I wonder why my Dr didn't mention this to me? Maybe it's all relative cause I have lung mets or maybe he's not concerned. Just seems strange especially when I asked him if it's spread anywhere else and he said "no".  It also seems strange how they are assuming lymph node metastasis when they havn't biopsied anything. Just saying……………

          Maybe he did not read the full report. Or he is associating the mediastinum lymph nodes with the lungs. From looking at picutres, I don't see how though as the mediastinum is an area in the central part of the chest in between the two lungs.

          I would think he would at least say, oh and one more thing—–

          You may wish to discuss this with him.

              If this node wasn't indicated in a previous scan (ie, where they "mention" it, although it is well within limits), then yes – that would be spread.  I wonder if the doctor thought since it was still in the same area, that it wasn't worth notating (as opposed to the liver or such). 

              My husband's area of metastasis is the mediastinal lymph nodes only, however they are in excess of 9cm and 6cm.  A "suspect 7mm area" was noted back in 6/2010 in his lungs, however scans in September 2010 and June 2011 never seen it again.  I know they looked at his scans again to be sure nothing was overlooked, but there wasn't.  He did a bronchoscopy to determine pathology, which was an easy procedure.

              No matter what it is, hopefully IPI can take care of it!

                  this at this moment. Let's hope that you respond really well to Yervoy.
