The way Wayne found out he had Melly Mets was through a calcium scan for his heart. His family drops dead from heart attacks.
Anyway, we knew he needed to follow through as soon as there was a break in the nightmare since March12, so we finally went in to haveHEART CATH after he had a small event on stress test. The man had a 95% blockage in one artery. The others were fine, but we almost fell out. He went in hospital last week and had the rotor rooter and they did one stent in that artery.

GOODNESS – that was CLOSE after fighting like Trojan's with Melly.
Be alert to the rest of your body…..it's not always MELLY and the TREATMENTS causing the symptoms.
BLESSINGS AND HEALTH TO ALL OF YOU ! PRAY THINGS ARE GOING AS WELL AS POSSIBLE and YOU ARE FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT !
KEEP THE FAITH !!!!!!

wow! I did not read this before I responded to your note to me. SOO glad for the timing of it all, and that it was found before it caused big problems! Did they take him off the Z for a bit, or continue without interruption?
I know it is SO difficult to tell.. when the Z causes so many various side effects, as do other treatments — we can overlook other possibilities! Glad he is doing so well π

I’m glad that Wayne is doing well after all he’s been through, but I must say I personally don’t appreciate you giving melanoma a nick name like its some sort of cute disease!! To me its extremely insensitive, especially when we are fighting for our lives!! Just saying!! -

Seriously, if the most offensive or disturbing thing you read here or anywhere else today is the word "melly" used for melanoma, that's pretty great. It's clearly not something said with insensitivity. What offends me is people posting anonymously to berate someone else, especially over something ridiculous. We should be lifting each other up and encouraging, not finding little things to nitpick over. This woman has been through so much with her husband, I don't think she needs to be scolded over what words she chooses to use, especially since she did not say anything overtly offensive. I'm sorry but I had to say something, we are all supposed to be on the same team here!
Nancy, I am so glad you guys found the blockage, it's funny how we can forget all the other health problems that are possible, it's like when we deal with melanoma, that becomes #1 focus and everything else falls to the side. The rest of our bodies still need attention! What a blessing that you were able to get to the doctor and have it taken care of.

Have to agree with you, Melissa. I do think it is ashame to even try to make Nancy feel guilty over using the term melly. She has been through the ringer and back. Everyone who knows her, knows her to be so sweet and sensitive. Thank you for posting this thoughtful response.

i agree.
but in fairness to the person who posted not liking the term "melly", I think this is one of those things that may not come across as intended electronically. . no harm is meant by it, but if someone called breast cancer something cute I could see people being offended for instance

I promise I'm not trying to be argumentative, but as soon as I read that, I couldn't help but think of "Save the Ta-Ta's", and a coffee mug I saw that said "Cancer touched my boobies so I kicked its butt". I totally understand where you're coming from, that maybe it being in writing and not said verbally changed the perception, but breast cancer definitely gets its share of cuteness. I'm not a very serious person at all, so honestly I am very likely to see humor in most situations. I get that not everyone is like that, and I bet there are people who are offended at some of the terms used in regards to breast cancer too. We can probably all benefit from looking at things from others' prospectives!
Hope all you guys and girls have a great day π

I am not getting notices that there have been replies to my post. My hubby told me I had been LAND BLASTED for calling MELANOMA – MELLY …. by someone named ANON. Oops….there I go again, with that silly nicknaming. I'm sorry I'm the kind of person that does have a light heart, and I am called the SUPER DUPER NICKNAMER ON FACEBOOK, so there you have it. GUILTY ! One of the reasons I do that ANON is that I am very, very, very ill myself. I am in more pain than my precious Wayne has ever seen or experienced in his life with cancer 3 times…….and he will tell you so as my caretaker for 27 years now. One of the reasons I do take SHORTCUTS (NICKNAMES) is because I'm in so much pain, gut wrenching pain with about a hundred other symptoms to go with it with several illnesses myself, – but I need to communicate on the PUTER (short for COMPUTER in case you're wondering)….because I am shut in, and I have no life because of these terribly debilitating illnesses and I can get more typed if I take SHORTCUTS and use NICKNAMES. Especially if something or someone has 3 syllables, I really take a shortcut. You are the only person who has not enjoy my personality and humor in VERY DIRE CIRCUMSTANCES ! 200 people on TEAM WAYNE PRAYER WARRIORS and all of them were blessed by the courage and FAITH we/I had to write with such candor, pain, tears, and yet HUMOR. They all call it MELLY ! Go figure…….
Sometimes when I'm writing MELLY, I'm actually crying over this AWFUL, GUT WRENCHING, PAINFUL, LIFE STEALING, MURDEROUS ILLNESS. Does that make you feel better ? I have a lot more adjectives too, but will spare you. Like we call ZELBORAF = Z or ZEL. Sure not taking anything away from that serious drug that has thus far saved my precious husband's life. We have been through hell and back in 22 years of fighting cancer and I'm the last person in the world to MAKE FUN OF IT. I don't know what you did BLACK FRIDAY, but we went shopping……..for our CEMETERY PLOTS ! Yes, I / we do have a wicked sense of humor. If we don't laugh sometimes, we can't get through it. We didn't plan Black Friday for it, but it was the only day my legs would hold me up to get there in this serious and GUT WRENCHING PAIN AND SICKNESS I am in. MELLY IS NOT THE ONLY SERIOUS ILLNESS in this world, ANON, and we all learn how to deal with it without going insane or offing ourselves in our own way. We choose FAITH, LAUGHTER, RELAXING, MAKING FUN "SOMETIMES", and also CRYING OUR EYEBALLS OUT and SCREAMING TO THE TOP OF THE ROOF WHEN NEEDED.
Honestly, I don't know if you are the same person that comes on here all the time giving nothing BUT GRIEF, but you might just learn something here about LIVING while we are all still ALIVE ! I bet it's one of my SENSITIVE RELATIVES behind the ANON – which is also why I prolly turned out the way I did. Having watched my dad eaten to death with cancer took it's toll on me watching all the seriousness – and for 5 years we were DARED TO HAVE ANY FUN OR LAUGH OR HAVE ANY JOY ABOUT ANYTHING IN LIFE AT ALL ! That is not who I am !!! You be who you are and let me be who I am…..and you just might find that even in the GUTTER there is JOY and FUN to be found if you allow yourself to.
I wish you the very best. I pray the Lord heals you and everyone on this board. I pray you find the COURAGE to come out from behind that MASK of ANON you wear when you are CUTTING SOMEONE DOWN FOR SOMETHING YOU DON'T LIKE, for no good reason at all. You could not find a kinder, more loving person in the world if you tried than I am, but my personality is what it is. LET GO AND STOP TRYING TO "CONTROL" people. It really is OK to be JOYFUL and HAVE FUN sometimes – even while bawling. TRY IT – you might like it and it might just lighten your load as well.
I'm very sorry for your cancer. I'm sorry you are suffering. I'm sorry you can't find any light. I'm sorry you have to take it out on me, but that's OK, I can take it, because I've been through enough in my life to take a bashing and KEEP ON SMILING and KEEP on TRYING to make folks smile every now and then in the darkest of situations (which is what I do as a counselor to many with many devastating problems from my own bed). I hope you can find that too……it really does help to make the darkness a little lighter, and while the pain and suffering is still there……at least, we will know we TRIED TO LVIE to the FULLEST in the TOUGHEST OF TIMES, and in doing so, MELLY WILL NOT WIN ! It's like a curse word to MELANOMA you understand………I'm calling it the DOG- the BEAST – the ROTTEN STUFF – the one they gave the BLACK RIBBON !!! That's what I'm doing. BREATHE…………………….
Nancy (very sick devoted wife of 3 X WARRIOR WAYNE) Just because it's not MELLY, doesn't mean it's not SERIOUS AND AWFUL and GUT WRENCHINLY HARD TO BEAR !!! BE WELL………….and call me anything you like….I bet I will laugh about it. :-))))))))

TINA D – forgot to answer your question.
YES, they did take Wayne off ZEL for 4 days before Cath, and 4 days after. He loved it. π Felt better the first day off.
Dr. B. said they do that because they just do not know what it will do with anesthesia, drugs, etc., so they do the 4 days before and after just to cover bases.
It's a shame that when cancer is gone one has to keep taking those awful meds that do such horrible things to the body, but also saves the life. Wayne is suffering some sure nuff serious neuropathy….bless his heart…now he is looking at getting on Nuerotin on top of all beta blockers, etc. he has to take for heart. I cry every day he has to goto work in that pain to keep us afloat.
GOD HAS BEEN GOOD TO SHOW US THESE HIDDENT THINGS JUST IN THE NICK OF TIME to get something done about them. That was another WHEW……
I guess more than anything when I call Melanoma MELLY I am saying: YOU WILL NOT WIN….WE WILL KICK YOU TO THE CURB……like I don't even want to pay it the respect of calling it by it's real name. A STRONG DISLIKE FOR and DISRESPECT for the MEAN DEVIL that is it. THE ENEMY…….and we will overcome you ! I HATE IT WITH MY WHOLE HEART and it's my way of degrading it, like it's also called THE BEAST !
So glad you have come to some peace about WHERE YOU ARE GOING. Each has to make their own decisions about what they can do and I know they will take very good care of you, especially since you can GET BACK there for checkups etc. That's very important. Please keep us updated.
KEEP THE FAITH GIRL, and GOD'S BEST BLESSINGS AND HEALTH TO YOU,
Nancy (devoted wife of 3 X warrior Wayne) π

I know the times I've had to come off Z for few days .. or longer… it has been great π . Unfortunatley, it does usually mean there is something else going on ( like gallbladder surgery or strep throat, or a bad reaction,LOL!) I am sorry that for him, it was heart cath, and stent… but so glad he came through it well.
I actually like that you call it Melly… I get it. It does have the effect of personally de-powering it somehow π . You have sure got a lot on your own shoulders and my hat goes off to you. Thank you for the encouraging words this morning, I needed them right now more than you can imagine or know. I had a very long and difficult night lastnight ( actually a very rare occurance for me)
I called the Oncologist yest to ask for a consult to be set up soon as possible after the scans. Somehow, mentally, we just kinda need to adjust to this new "normal" if that is what it is going to be. It is tough not being able to be wife and mom like I am used to, but I am so grateful to still be here. I will let you know what we find out & I will be posting scan results next week. I go Tues for PET CT and get results on Wed.
Keeping the Faith.. and keeping my eyes on Him. Blessing to you, friend,
Tina

Hope all you guys and girls have a great day π

i agree.
but in fairness to the person who posted not liking the term "melly", I think this is one of those things that may not come across as intended electronically. . no harm is meant by it, but if someone called breast cancer something cute I could see people being offended for instance
