My brother has malignant melanoma lesion in his sacrum affecting his nerves S1 and S2. He has an intrathecal pump implanted for pain control, although he still has significant pain and is unable to sit for more than a couple of minutes.
I am inquiring as to whether anybody has had a tumor in this area, and if anybody has any information on a facet rhizotomy procedure to treat the nerves.
Any information is welcomed.

Yes I was there with lots of nerve pain a couple months ago. Not exactly the sacrum but yeah that area and I couldn't sit. This may sound silly but what helped the most was getting a tailbone cushion off amazon. Well I actually got 3 of them. I was so amazed I could actually sit again. Was way better than the 3 pain meds they had me on. Before that I couldn't sit long enough in the car to go to the radiation treatments without stopping to stand for awhile. I would walk around the house most of the day because I couldn't sit. To sleep I tried to have 3 pillows under me just right. A regular cushion doesn't work. It has to be the tailbone cushion. They radiated the t4 and t5 vertebrae which are the ones right above the tail bone. Now I'm off all the pain meds but yeah I have pains now in my left foot and up the back of my leg to my knee but nothing as bad as it was then. I'm walking to try to get the nerves to heal themselves plus a moist heating pad and a foot spa. Plus solarcaine to numb it for some quick relief thanks to a person on this forum. Hope that helps. I know that type of pain can be really bad because I've been there.

Artie,
My name is Bill and I am the 'brother' referred to in the post by Mary. I will look for the tailbone cushion to see if it can work for me too. Hopefully it will since right now sittig is a tremendous chore for me, and can only be done for 5-10 minutes before I need to lay out for relief.
Thank you for your insight!

I hope that cushion worked for you like it did for me. I could only sit for a few minutes too. With that cushion I could sit for an hour easy. I was so amazed none of the docs or nurses suggested it. I had to put 2 and 2 together while on 3 pain meds that they were talking about needing to radiate the vertebrae right above my tailbone so Google and Amazon and 2 days later I got lots of relief. I would walk around the house for hours cause I couldn't sit and it was very hard to get 3 normal pillows just right so I could lay in my recliner. My back doesn't let me do beds. Now after the radiation I probably don't need it but I still use it cause it is supposed to help with the nerves and stuff when we sit.
