Or have a lot of people stopped mailing Christmas cards this year?

Or have a lot of people stopped mailing Christmas cards this year?

We were too busy/tired w/the new business, new truck, patients, and prenatal junk, to even get any out.  Kind of makes me feel good that we didn't get a lot.  Plenty from clients, Nice packages for re-gifting too. How many people actually still tip the postman for Christmas anymore?  I feel sorry for those poor chumps tromping around in all kinds of weather, getting chased by dogs, crapped on by pigeons, losing arms when they are rear ended while carefully placing peoples mail in their boxes and some idiot isn't paying attention, or their little white trucks aren't visible.  The old post office uniforms are looking tired and worn too.

Now I feel kind of guilty for not sending cards out, I almost couldn't look the old guy in his mail truck in the eye, when I asked him if he could bring my package to UPS for me, since it was on his route….

hahaha  I felt the same way.   This year I just did not even try to get cards out.  Though I recieved cards some by post but mainly by hand.  From folks far away  (Tasmania, UK, BC, and SLC)  I just did not have energy but I cannot excuse it.  Once before this happened to me, with family…and I ended up buying cards (special one at a time ones)  and since they were all coming in August, I had Christmas in August!  complete with a old rangy fake tree!  They all sent me cards at the proper time.

Things seem so hectic this year..  (not from my personal problems)  just hectic.  I put it down to the up coming wedding, and old cat.

speaking of which,  one has been sleeping on my tummy for two nights, and the other tween my ankles they will not leave my side.   Is this telling me something?

My postman is a nice young guy with longish hair….and wears shorts in the summer.  and our usual UPS guy is a sweetie, told me that IF EVER I AM UNABLE to accept a need to sign for package, he can be found in a local JUMBO BURGER JOINT from 4 to 6 with his mates from this area.

We did not believe him, till once we were coming back from a evening (supper time) visit to our vets, and voila  there were the 4 UPS trucks parked in the lot.  hahahha

          Ta for Now.

I stopped mailing out cards years ago.  Still get a few from diehards. I tipped my mailman this year. He is the best we have had in our thirty years at this house.  I much prefer Thanksgiving as a holiday. Xmas is totally commercial and I'm not interested in the religiosity.  Virgin birth? Oh ya. Tooth fairy and Easter Bunny too.

Bill, that guy must love old geezers like you.  I'd be a great mailman too, if I only had to deliver junk mail, early bird special coupons, and 1 or 2 cards to a shut in.  We went to one party where the lady had about 11 Christmas trees in her house all w/different themes.  She is really big on decorating for Christmas, has 1/2 of her basement full of decorations.  Now when I go into other peoples houses, I can't help but look at their tree and be critical.  I'm amazed by how many Jewish people put up trees. A friend of mine was driving home one day when I called him and he was grumbling about bringing home a tree.  I asked him why he was doing it.  He said "John, do you really think Jewboy wants this think strapped to the roof of his SUV? my wife makes me do it, you idiot."

                        I laughed.

Our tree is the same little plastic thing we put up on a table in front of a window every year (so it looks like a big tree from outside)  This year we had a bunch of presents, such as antibiotics, flea and heart worm preventative, sterile surgical material and other miscellaneous inventory beneath it due to the current basement renovation.  Add that to the fact that it assembles and dissembles in about 2 hrs, and I'm never getting rid of it.  (Our basement is currently being renovated for a home office)-nice guy doing it too, engineer from Wisconsin.  He eats cigarettes and coffee w/no milk, is in his late 50s, and mixes cement in temperatures just above freezing, plumbing/electricity sheet rock, framing, and moves gas lines all in one, quite the handyman.  That and the fact that he can contour framing onto granite rock makes him pretty talented.
