I saw this on MIF's Forum:
Cancer 101, supported by Genentech, and in collaboration with MIF and others has created a Melanoma Planner with lots of melanoma information and an organizer to keep your bills, tests and studies in hard copy files. To get yours: call 646-638-2202, email: info@cancer101.org , to see it, http://www.cancer101.org.

Thank goodness SOMETHING is free………………..oops, well, it IS free if you want to give up personal information to benefit who knows.
This is ONLY an attempt to gather data and has NOTHING to do with patient care.
It REALLY pisses me off that the MRF, who purports themselves to be the pre-immenent voice and the go to people for melanoma have shit like this on their forum..
Bite my ass free planner.
And if you don't rid this MRF, bite my ass to.

Or for 20 bucks one could buy a whole chicken for 6 bucks tops, sacks of potatoes for 4 bucks, can of veggies for a buck, gallon of milk for 4 bucks,loaf of bread for two and get three bucks change and feed a meal to a family of four and have leftovers.
Or, pay a doctor visit co-pay
Or, pay a drug co-pay
Or, pay cab fare to get to the doctor.
Or put four gallons of gas in the car.
Or, pay for an oil change.
Or, pay to get a new tag for the car
Or, for that bit of a partial payment to keep the lights, water or gas on for a few more days.
Or……………well, the or's go on an on but certainly not for a planner for 20 bucks that a spouse, sibling or caregiver can and should do for free rather than pay a drug company that is all ready making a profit from you.
It disgusts me when companies try and suck cash from cancer patients for a product of no value under the guise of "helping"
This is no diferent and it is nothing short of exploitation and has NO place on a cancer support site of any kind.

Or, to buy a few more minutes on your celll phone
Or, the difference between a new tie and a used one.
Or, to buy laundry soap so you can have clean clothes for the next day and keep up appearances.
Or so there is jussssssssssssssssst enough to get a bottle of wine or magnum of beer to consume and forget about the day.
I'm not tere, but I have been there. So I do get the 20 buck thing.
That's why it makes me mad about planners.
As a melanoma patient, when is the last time you forgot a biopsy, scan , surgery, radiation or appointment of any kind?
I will grant you that when on a drug protocol, it does take some planning. but is not that compliated..
Okay, I'll quit because I think I have made my point !

I have actually been involved with the content review of the Cancer 101 planners as a nurse navigator with the National Coalition of Oncology Nurse Navigators. Monica Knoll, the founder of Cancer 101 was an incredible woman who was also my friend who was diagnosed first with breast and then with ovarian cancer, She passed away this past summer at much too young of an age with much left undone. There was a fear that all of her work was going to be for nothing but her board of directors worked very hard to continue her vision and I was thrilled when I saw that they would once again be available (they haven't been because they didn't have enough funding to make more).
Her passion was for patients, their support and their empowerment. She designed these planners out of what she found she needed as a patient. The majority of the people who get them do so through their hospital or cancer center for free. Our cancer center just placed a large order so that we could give them to our patients. Cancer 101 launching a melanoma specific planner was to fulfill a dream of Monica's. One that she and I spoke about a year and a half ago. Not for financial gain but for the patient. Monica spent years drumming up support from pharma, from friends, from those in a position to give to make these planners affordable and available. I wish everyone who has struggled to keep all of their appointments, and medical bills and questions and pathology reports and on and on organized could have a planner.
Sorry that this was so long winded but I know Monica would have wanted everyone to know what she was about and what the planners were about. Not getting names and information but helping patients.
