So we call MDA and they said it if gets over 100.4 and definitely over 100.8 to head to the ER again.   WHAT…………what does this mean ?   We can't live at ER.    Every time it seemed that he had been outside, whether to just get in his HOT car at work to drive home or walk into the grocery, his fever would shoot up and keep getting higher at night.

Are any of you experiencing these problems with fever.    Said his liver enzyme was like 1 pt above what it should be and too much magnesium.

Lord, how are we going to do this.  I have pulled my back out that I worked YEARS TO GET HELP FOR AND FINALLY did……and now it's gone again from dragging luggage to the hospital.   I'm very debilitated with lupus and fibro and spent the day in bed.   We both need taking care of and I don't know how this is going to work.   How depressing.

Any input would be appreciated if you understood anything I said.   I'm so tired after hospital I want to hang me, dang me.

Fever is a side effect of Zelboraf. My husband ended up in the ER with 103.5 one night (after an after hours call to the oncology exchange). They dx a sinus infection and put him on antibiotics. 2 days later, the fever kept coming and going and he lost almost all his hair in a matter of 24 hours. He went to the oncologist who said this is a rare side effect. His liver levels were elevated. His thought was that because of another medicine he was taking, his body wasn’t absorbing the Zelboraf the right way and he was more or less ODing on Zelboraf. They stopped Zelboraf for a week to let things settle down and restarted at 6 pills a day. No more issues. The 6 pills a day is working and he’s been more or less stable for 6 months. Not sure if that all makes sense, but his oncologist has been working with Zelboraf for over 2 years with one of the trials and seems to know how to manage it very well.

                Hi Nancy,

Sure seems like Wayne is having some side effects, huh?  But it also sounds like the Zel is working.  My son's onc said if side effects become debilitating, it might be time to take a break or lower the dosage.   Jeff has had fevers, swollen and sore joints and has had to reduce his dosage to 6 pills.  He takes ibuprofen (6 pills a day) and that is helping with the inflammation and fevers.  Have this docs suggested this?

Is there anyone who can help you?  Maybe ask the social worker at the hospital for some references for in-home patient care?  I am sure there has to be some agency out there who can offer you some assistance.  Hope so.  We're here for you – hang in there.  God Bless.  We're praying!
