      Hi everyone,

I had brain MRI (all is fine) and CT of chest, abdomen & pelvis.  PET is scheduled for Monday a.m.

I requested copy of CT results and I'm a little worried:

Lungs:    Subcentimeter nodule at the right lung base is stable.  No new pulmonary nodules have developed.  Huh?

      Hi everyone,

I had brain MRI (all is fine) and CT of chest, abdomen & pelvis.  PET is scheduled for Monday a.m.

I requested copy of CT results and I'm a little worried:

Lungs:    Subcentimeter nodule at the right lung base is stable.  No new pulmonary nodules have developed.  Huh?

Pleura/Pericardium:  Stable posterior pleural thickening. Thoracic Nodes:  Stable 0.7 x 0.6 cm left cupraclavicular node.  Subcentimeter nodes are unchanged.  No developing adenopathy.

As mentioned, I am having PET on Monday followed by visit w/Wolchuk on Thursday, I'm just trying to avoid being a nervous wreck all weekend.

      Thanks!

      Have a good one,

      karen

Are there any CTs previously to compare this to?

Are there any CTs previously to compare this to?  Stable is a good thing.  That usually means a change no more or less than 25%  if there have been previous CTs.

Enjoy your weekend, good luck w/Dr. Wolchok appt.

                          Karen,

Remember that lots of times we have lumps and bumps in our bodies that mean nothing!   No change is good.  In the past I've had them mention nodes but then also comment that it's just nodes….   Sometimes having a chance to read the report before the oncologist does the explaining can scare you.

Try to have an anxiety weekend

                                  Karen,

It sounds to me like this is an indication that you are stable!  Stable = another go at it.  Remember, this is only your first scan, and I am guessing that they will give you another round.  Also, you have to give it time to work it's magic.  As long as the PET doesn't show any new mets, you are in very good shape.

                                  Congrats!

Karen, here is my interpretation of the CT results.

Lungs: you have a small nodule (less than 1cm in size). It is stable and that is good. In addition, no new lung nodules have been detected.

Pleura/Pericardium: Small nodules are unchanged, and therefore are stable. No sign of adenopathy (enlargement of the lymph nodes or glandular disease). This is also a good result.

Good luck with the PET scan on Monday.

                                                    Thanks everyone,

The PET is where they'll actually see if the actual mel on my face is stable or improved and will determine if I go back for more IL-2.  It just flipped me out a little that I hadn't gotten paper copies before, so I didn't even know that I had anything there to BE stable!  The brain MRI was to make sure that the mel hadn't spread to the brain, which would contraindicate more IL-2 and the CT was to make sure nothing had spread to the liver.

You all calmed me down a lot, and I really apprecite it!

It seems everyone has a few lesions in the liver or a spot or two in the lungs -even healthy people…they just never know about them because they were never scanned …I have lesions, cysts etc etc…but they say its not melanoma…they even did a wedge resection in my lung when they did my thoracotomy because it was seen on previous scans and because it was accessable at the time. It turned out to be a tiny lymph node in my lung. Not cancer.- Hoping your scans are great!!
