My dad had his first scan yesterday since initial diagnosis back in December. Everything looks good with the exception of the lymph node area where he had the surgery back in January. I am not sure what they saw but they want to follow up with an ultrasound. Wondering if it could be scar tissue from previous surgeries? Anybody know what could show up on a CT scan as far as the lymph nodes? I guess they saw something with one of the nodes but cannot feel any enlargement when examining him.He finished his second infusion of Yervoy about a month ago. Had to discontinue treatment due to liver side effects. Also had a full round of radiation to the lymph node area in the armpit.
Thanks!
Annie

When I had my recent scan some of my lymph nodes showed up as a little enlarged, couldn't feel anything from the outside. Had a fine needle aspiration biopsy in the groin lymph node to check, it was negative. My onc said that the Yervoy could be creating some inflammation in my lymph nodes which is why some showed up on the scan. Could be a similar thing with your dad. Hope you are both doing well.

I had "something" show up on a CT scan that my onc was not able to say with certainty it was scar tissue, so he ordered a fine needle biopsy and ultrasound. The anomaly was not scar tissue and it was not melanoma. Apparently some blood was pooling at the end of one of the blood vessels that had been clamped with surgical clips. This caused some ballooning in the area and was the cause of the anomaly. It was all part of the healing process from the lymph node removal surgery I'd had 5-6 months prior to that scan. They never had to even insert the needle for the fine needle biopsy. A tech and two doctors confirmed via the ultrasound what was going on.

Thank you. We are hoping for it being from the Yervoy then. -
