I was researching hospitals in my area and I came across Loyola Hospital out of Maywood Illinois. Anyone here ever heard of Dr. Joseph Clark. I see they also offer clinical trials which I heard is a plus.

      Thanks

      Greg

          Hi Greg,

I have not heard of Dr. Clark so I can't comment. I can give you the name of my doctor at University of Chicago, Dr. Jason Luke, he's a top Melanoma oncologist and runs several clinical trials.

          Good luck,

          Juan

I have heard of him and he specializes in melanoma and well respected. I believe Elaine (5Dives)sees him. I also had a friend who 12 years ago went Stage 4 and did interleukin-2 with him. Said he really knows his stuff and Loyola is good cancer center.

You see Dr. Rose yet? If so how'd that go?

                Josh

                      Hey Josh

I had my first appointment monday and he evaluated my lymph nodes in my back and armpits and said he didnt feel anything swollen. He next told me the next step is the SLNB to see if it has spread. I asked him about ulceration (1.7mm i was ulcerated) and mitosis.( less then 1) He told me dont worry about that it really doesnt matter and the only way to determine is with this SLNB. He put me at a stage of 2bNoMo I have an appointment with a surgeon on friday for my SLNB and wide excision. This waiting stuff is really tough on my family and me.

As far as hospitals. I remember you saying you went to Lutheran. My parents go there and love it.(Saved my dads life twice) So I called my HMO and it is in the network all i have to do is change the group and boom the 1st i can go there if I choose. I also checked on other hospitals and have choices to go to Loyola and UIC. But other then that for one week dx I feel like everything is going fast and smooth so far. I also checked some drugs and since alot of melanoma drugs are IV and not pills they seem like there covered 100 percent. How bout treatment. Is melanoma going to make me bankrupt or are the insurances pretty good. I know since OBAMA passed those cap regulations it has changed alot of things. Insight on that would be appreciated Josh.

                      Thanks

                      Greg.
