      I mentioned this book in another post when I was reading a different really good book. I have finally gotten around to reading "A Series of Catastrophes and Miracles: A True Story of Love, Science, and Cancer" by Mary Elizabeth Williams. And WOW, this is the book we need to read. She had stage 4 melanoma, she went on the then ipi/nivo combo trial, and all her tumors shrunk and went away. She's been NED for some years now and wrote this awesome book about her story. She writes in a way that is SO relatable. At one point she calls cancer a d*ck. She's funny and real and candid. At the same time her good friend was going through chemo for cervical cancer… that part of the story is not as uplifting but still very real. It is definitely a must read!

      Hope everyone is enjoying their Saturday… even if it's for a moment, take time to relax and forget about the stress and crap that melanoma is bringing to your life… you deserve it, even if brief.

          I read this book too, just finish it last weekend.  It is a GREAT read: funny, hopeful, informative, riveting.  Especially to anyone with melanoma or who is close to someone with melanoma (or other cancer).  She has a lot of interesting information on immunotherapy, especially for people who are just learning about this disease and it's treatment like me.  I highly recommend it.

          As for me, my neck dissection is tuesday of this week at University of Michigan.  I feel ready, I just want to get the ball rolling.  My node came back positive on April 3- it has seemed like a very long time to get to this point.

          Thanks to the forum for all of the information and support.
