      Hi everyone

i had some scans today that showed the melanoma in my lung has shrunk from 7.9 cm to 3 cm. I also have 4 or 5 nodes in my chest with melanoma and they are almost back to normal size. I have had 9 infusions of keytruda and as my cough has reduced and I am feeling well, this was the first scan since I started on keytruda.

i just want to thank everybody on this site for their invalulable advice and support, especially artie and celeste, but really everybody. Thank you from the bottom of my heart and I sincerely hope that you all have positive outcomes like this and find the right team of doctors for your needs, as the research seems to be moving fast in the right direction.

      Thanks again

                            Excellent news!!

One question, was there a particular reason to wait until after 9 Keytruda infusions before you did the scan? Isn't it normally after 4?

Just checked my oncology appt card and in fact I have only had 7 cycles. I was counting the two ipis. While I was on ipi I got quite a lot worse. On morphine at night for the cough and coughing all day and night. As soon as I changed to Pembro, the cough cleared up a lot in the first two cycles. So I would have been due for scans after cycle 6 but everyone is on summer holidays here over xmas and new year ( I'm in Australia) and I was feeling well so my dr told me to go away on holiday and just have the scan when I got back so I wouldn't be worrying about scan results while on holiday. I can ask him today re cycle 4 Vs cycle 6. In the past he has told me that on my low dose of 3 mg per kg every three weeks we need to give it time and I guess my melanoma has been quite indolent so far.

Dr just reminded me that I did have a scan after cycle 3 but there was no change in the tumour size even though I was feeling better. He now thinks that's because the melanoma was shrinking but it took a while for the inflammation around it to go down. Because I am not on a trial they can be flexible with the scan dates.
