Aspirin has long been known to have cancer prevention effects, but it has not been widely used for this because of concerns about potential harm. Experts have now declared, for the first time, that the benefits of taking aspirin to prevent some types of cancer outweigh the harms. This conclusion comes from a review published online August 6 in the Annals of Oncology. [Daily aspirin is] the most important thing we can do to reduce cancer after stopping smoking and reducing obesity. "Whilst there are some serious side effects that can't be ignored, taking aspirin daily looks to be the most important thing we can do to reduce cancer after stopping smoking and reducing obesity, and will probably be much easier to implement," first author Jack Cuzick, PhD, head of the Centre for Cancer Prevention at Queen Mary's University of London in the United Kingdom, in a press release.——————————————– ———http://www.medscape.com/viewarticle/829484

Yes, and NSAIDs such as ibuprofen also anti cancer due to anti inflammatory effect. Caution, also 'thins blood', i.e. increases clotting time, therefore know that your clotting time, platelets, hgb and hct etc are within normal limits. Sometimes not in such great shape when struggling with cancer's ravage and chemo side effects. Was giving my husband (stable x 7 mo melanoma in top of spine, post op, no chemo only radiation) turmeric + pepper caps (for the curcumin + piperin, anti inflammatory) and was suprised to see how much it affected his blood profile in 6 wks. Also was giving him green tea caps which also can have an anticlotting effect so have also stopped that. Con't drinking green tea 3x/day. Use Japanese green tea, has higher EGCG content. Costco's Kirkland brand has a macha/sencha blend. Also keeping diet anti inflammatory using alkaline foods, yes, lots of veggies, legumes, complex CHO's, plus no red meat, alcohol, yeast/fungi, sweets. Not a big change in diet for us except foregoing a nice glass of wine and cold beer, ice cream.
