      Hello.

I am 2 1/2 weeks out from my first dose of Yervoy. For the second time in a week now my cheeks have become very rosy and warm. My cheeks just feel hot like I just got done exercising, or something like that. I don’t have a fever. Just wondering if this might be related to Yervoy. Has anyone else experienced this?

           Angela,

This may be a good thing. An immune response to antigen takes about 15 days. The Yervoy in an indirect way, helped activate the Danger Signal!!!!

          (See the 2nd Graphic below.)

This is the first step in activation of your T-cells. If these T-cells/Dendritic cells captured and processed the tumor specific antigens, then you are on your way to an immune response against Melanoma. Congrats!!!!!

          Warm Regards,

              Angela,

I hope you had your (ALC) Absolute Lymphocyte Count taken prior to starting Yervoy/Ipi. If not, you should request it from you Oncologist. Thje ALC should double by week 7. This is andincation that you activated your immune system and the T-cells are growing and multiplying.

              Best regards,

                  Dear Angela,

I wish you positive progress with your treatment.  I have never taken the drug you are taking.  I'm stage IIIA or B, when I look at the doctor's notes everyone has me at a different stage.

What I wanted to tell you is that the last treatment I had was high dose Interferon therapy in 2006.  After that treatment, I get rosey red cheeks to this day quite often.  I do not know if its the drugs or the disease.  But I feel the heat in my cheeks too.

                  Good Luck and Best Wishes
