IL2 rash question

      Hi,

      I completed first round of biochemo with Temodar, IL2 and Interferon. It went as well as I think it could have. Symptoms were mostly nausea, some anxiety and a rash which showed up on my face, chest and abdomen. I had a reaction to the Ativan and wont be having that again. I was also given Thorazine  for persistent hiccups along with nausea. I won't have that one again either.

      The rash peeled a bit on my face as well as my chest. Nothing happened on the abdominal area.

      My question to those doing IL2-what happened with the rash for round 2? Did it come in the same places? Did it get worse?

          Sorry to say, my rash didn't lessen with each round.  I slathered on Sarna, which is sold in the first aid section which helped and push, push, push the fluids in advance of the next round and during.  Some have had good luck with Aveeno Oatmeal bath mixed up into a paste and slathered on as well.   I hear you on the Ativan, that pushed me into serious la-la land.

            Sorry to say, my rash didn't lessen with each round.  I slathered on Sarna, which is sold in the first aid section which helped and push, push, push the fluids in advance of the next round and during.  Some have had good luck with Aveeno Oatmeal bath mixed up into a paste and slathered on as well.   I hear you on the Ativan, that pushed me into serious la-la land.

                I forgot to get the Sarna lotion. I'll get that and bring with me next time.

                  My rash/itching/peeling got a little worse with each round, and tended to include more area as the rounds went on.  I found that Sarna was helpful in the later stages, but in the earlier stages, a really heavy duty regular moisturizer was better.  Don't forget your lips – lots of Carmex or good quality lip balm.  I had some bleeding from my cracked lips by the sixth round of IL-2 (ew!) but hey, I'd completely lost my appetite so eating wasn't really a problem!

                  Good luck, hang in there, kick some mm butt.

                      Well at least you didn't have a mustache!  (Hopefully, not like I did!) That really makes the face rash bad.  My rash spread slowly and went deeper (Thinner skin) and raw in some wrinkles.The Sarna lotion is great for most of us.   I did get a case of Thrush in my throat that they gave me a strong nixture to kill the pain .  It worked.  I got a yeast infection In the groin from the rawness and the numbness from the lymph node removal there.  That was readily cleared up after being disscovered.
