Hi, Brent has cellutitus in his right leg from lymphedemia conplications.  A few days ago he found a lump that was tender.  The doctor has put him on antibiotics but they don't seem to be working.  I need some help.  I know we shouldn't wait and we see the doctor on Friday.  I know this is serious and could use some feedback.  Thanks

          Sharmon,

In the past year I've had 2 different surgeries in the same arm for melanoma mets. I had just started radiation when I visibly could see another lump show up. The radiologist was very worried and called my local onc. She saw me and thought it was melanoma. Said it was presenting exactly like the first met. Called my mel specialist and they got me in for a PET a few days later. Showed nothing. He didn't believe it so had an FNA done, showed nothing, they had it excised – it was fatty tissue. There ended up being 3 nodlues!  Radiation has now continued. THis lump was within inches of the previous surgery from 4 weeks prior!   I'm just saying that until it's tested don't jump to conclusions.

I would call the Dr this morning but I have a feeling that they will tell you to wait till tomorrow.

I hope Brent's turns out like mine!  I'm also glad my onc. didn't just believe the PET and further investigated.  Besides the arm issues and the cellulitis how is Brent doing?

I have the cellutitus in my breast from lymphedema.  I am fairly certain the lump is just another complication but there is no sense taking a chance.  Get to the Onc and have it checked out. Friday is fine, and try your best not to worry if Brent has lymphedemia he's going to battle stuff like this.

              Mary,

              Stage 3

                  Hi Sharon,

I had cellulitis in my lymphedema arm. They wanted to insert a pic line. Another doctor said it wasn't necessary as it was a local infection and was not in the blood. A strong regimen of Amoxicilin knocked it out. It was the first time I was in icu as my blood pressure was pretty low.

                   God Bless,

                   Jim M.

Hi. Just back from hospital, they admitted Brent. After ultra sound and CT scan to look into lump it was decided to put him oh high strength antibiotics. They drew blood to do cultures to determine which bug we are dealing with, the leg is hot and very swollen. We do not know if he should wear the compression stocking or not. Thanks for all the input, it helps him feel not so all alone.

                            Hi Sharon,

I'm just reading your posts now.  Hoping the cellulitis clears up soon.  So sorry all this is happening.  Keep me/us posted on your research for trials, etc.  It was nice to hear your voice but wish the news had been better.
