Hope someone sees this.   I am on radiation for a mass in the spine and next to aorta.  I have 3 treatments left.  One day I have no pain in back at all then next day I am eating pain pills.  And  the pills are not doing it today.  June 11.  Also on light doses of  chemo.  Will get stronger after radiation is over.    Of couse my heart disease is the handicap.  Heart will not take strong stuff.  And it is strange.  Right now the pain is kind of on the left side toward the hip.   Tomorrow it may be towards the right side.

I am  beginning to wonder if the Melanoma is the  cause of pain.  Could be buldging disc or something like that.    At age 79 it might be anything.

      Anyone with similiar effects???

My concern is: are you telling your doctor about this pain or going it alone and dealing with it yourself…because he/she really needs to know what's going on.

Lord, in Your mercy, help Your child. Amen.

          Grace and peace,

          Carol

Mine was located by my aorta too, in the right lower paratracheal area next to aorta the doc said. I had radiation for 10 days. During the 2nd week of radiation it became painful to touch, to shower and even wear clothes.

After radiation was over I also had a round burn on my back although they marked me on the front so I thought most of it was directed that way. The radiation machine did go completely around me though.

It has been nearly 2 years since radiation and the area is still tender to touch on the chest bone. I heard it takes awaile to heal from radiation.

My scans as of this past wednesday shows I am stage 4 melanoma NED for 15 months. I had surgery in March 2010 and doing vaccine therapy these days.
