Gene, Just wondering about that article…is it saying the low level is the reason for melanoma or could melanoma be the cause of the low levels; in which case taking suppliments wouldn't make a difference would it?

                  That is an excellent question.

Here is a link to the original abstract: http://www.eblue.org/article/S0190-9622(05)02675-7/abstract

It was a relatively small study and patients who took Q10 supplements were excluded from it. So this study does not answer this important question.

I guess we have to wait for more research…

Thanks for the question.   I believe that people with low CoQ10 are victims of many diseases.

Do a search using naturalnews.com and CoQ10 for more information.  Also do a search on life extension (lef.org) and CoQ10.

                          Here is some more info…

Given the vital role of the immune system in keeping patients cancer-free after treatment of all kinds of tumors, researchers in Rome studied immune-boosting treatments for patients with one of the most deadly and treatment-resistant cancers, malignant melanoma.31 Early and aggressive surgery has been the mainstay of treatment for this deadly form of skin cancer.32 The addition of treatment with immune-boosting cytokines such as interferon-alpha and interleukin-2 has slightly improved survival but at the cost of significant side effects.33 The Rome researchers had noted that melanoma patients have low levels of CoQ10.
