Just a question.  I was diagonosed with melanoma in situ in August and had surgery in september.  The initial bioposy had removed all melanoma.  I am switching health insurance companies.  On questionare it asks if you have cancer and treatment.  Do I mark yes or no?  I see a lot of different opinions regarding melanoma  in situ being cancer or not.  thanks.

Yep-it's like having brain cancer spot removed completely. Melanoma=cancer. Sorry

However you no longer have it since it was carved out so you had cancer but you don't have cancer

I would comment that you had an in-situ melanoma removed, and are now NED (no evidence of disease).

Insurance companies consder melanoma in situ cancer.  However, it is usually considered in a different category from invasive melanoma.
