      A I'm just learning about this fatal cancer that doctors miss a lot apparently. Why? Because it doesn't look like the typical melanoma!!!! Oh my gosh!! And how I found out about it was tryin to research a spot that popped up 7 months ago and has drastically changed literally in two days! I made an appointment today and I'm sick and terrified. Does anyone know much about this type of cancer?

          I was diagnosed last year with amenalotic nodular acral melanoma. A supposedly pyogenic granuloma. Turned out to be melanoma. Started as a blood blister. Changed over some months. Ended up looking as a pencil eraser under my right foot. Very very bad location. Ulcerated and deep; at least 2.85mm. Did not get clear margins at initial biopsy. Residual melanoma found when WLE. In short, very bad. Am out one year waiting for my PET/CT scan. Cant describe the horrific days I'm living.

          I cant believe you have a tumor as bad as mine.

              I'm sorry I don't much about any cancers. What does the clear margin mean? I don't know yet if this is benign or not yet. I pray it is. 

              If you don't mind me asking…..how bad are your days? Is this a hard cancer to live with? Do you know yet if your cancer free? Did you have radiation or chemo? I'm so sorry you have this type. I've read so much about it that's why I am so scared. How old are you??

              Chas, you aren't getting many replies because the chances of your mole being Melanoma are very low. Please try to keep things normal while you wait for the doctors appointments. With melanoma there is a lot of waiting because overreacting can be worse than taking a few extra days/weeks for action.

               

              Please let us know how things went after your appointment and the larger group here can be very helpful with fully understanding a condition or action/treatment plan.

                  Finally got in with my dermatologist, which also specializes in plastic surgery, a blessing for me right now! I took pics from the last year and how my once ugly duckling of a freckle had changed so much, he took a quick look at my eyebrow, went through all the photos and said "ok we need to get a biopsy soon…like Friday"! I just remained calm and said ok! But I had question at this point….I wanted to know his opinion. I know they all have one initially. And without a seconds hesitation, he said "looks like amelanotic melanoma." I said that's aggressive isn't it? He didn't wanna answer that and I didn't push it. I simply told him that I was a big girl, and I could handle what ever came my way. I smiled and said I'll see ya Friday! 

                  He comes highly recommended with 20plus years exp. so for now I have no choice but to trust his judgement. But honestly I didn't think a doctor would be so blunt just based on the few moments I was in there, blurring out this type of cancer without looking at it with any tool. 

                  i am having punch biopsy, incisional not excisional, and really don't even understand the difference. I am trying to post pictures so please if anyone can see this and believes this is NOT. Cancer. Please let me know. Or if you have seen anything like this.

                    Chastity, it really was unprofessional of your dermatologist to say that he thought this was cancer.  Although doctors have years of experience, they know that nothing can be diagnosed without a biopsy.  He could have at least said "we want to rule out amelanotic melanoma".  Furthermore, without a biopsy there is no way to determine the depth, and the seriousness should it turn out to be melanoma.  Hang in there, take deep breaths, and try not to worry until you know there is something to worry about.
