What you have written seems very cryptic. I will take a stab at interpreting it…

It sounds like the pathologist is describing evidence that the initial biopsy site had begun to heal up…"reparitive changes consistant with previouse operative site."

Is it possible that is could have said "lentiginous"…? That could be a description of the type of melanoma that I had…acral lentiginous.

"Incidental findings" combined with "lentiginous" implies to me that the pathologist could be just confirming the remants of the same melanoma found in the initial biospy.

If the surgery you just had was a Wide Local Excision (WLE)…then really all you need to hear is "margins free"…which is the best news you could ever hope for from the WLE. That means that they got all of the melanoma out and you can move on with you life.

Hard to say for sure…but I am thinking you are in a good place.

Get to your doctor ASAP to confirm!

Best of luck for a speedy recovery and a long NED life.

          Take care,

I'm not trying to be negative but June of 2015 I had a stage 2B Melanoma on my head. After 3 surguries I had clean margins (1 cm) and PET scan was negative. In June of this year I had a Melanoma tumor removed from my neck and have multiple tumors in both lungs. I found during my research on the melanoma on my head that the head was the worst place because it almost always spreads due to lack of depth in the flesh on the skull. I had expected that it would spread and so up somewhere else. I am on yervoy/opdivo combo and I hope it continues to work as it appears to be. If not then I am ready to move on to my next stage of life.
