Okay. I was diagnosed about 5 weeks ago after a painful lesion was removed from the middle of my back. My initial appointment with the cancer center is tomorrow, and although I’ve been dealing quite well with it, I’m nervous. Labs are Breslow 3.1, Mitotic rate 15, and the such. I know what to expect tomorrow from medical websites, but thought I’d ask here for first hand knowledge from real people. Thanks for any advice.

First and foremost, I'd make sure you're seeing a doctor that specializes in melanoma. Not sure where you're located but that is key. How big was lesion? Are you seeing a surgeon and/or medical oncologist? Did you do a sentinel lymph node biopsy? You said diagnosed 5 weeks ago so other than having lesion removed not sure what else has been done. Praying for best results for you…

Dear maboco3,
sorry you had to join our group, but glad you found this forum, people here are extremely well educated and kind and understanding….
I hope you had a good appointment with your doctors and have a great plan as how to deal with your diagnosis….
Unfortunately, you have written too little for us to reply with anything else other than what Josh replied…
Keep us posted and most importantly don´t panic whatever the diagnosis ends up to be…
Love,
Patrisa

A SNB and WLE would be next to complete staging. Unfortunately sounds like your tumor was pretty angry. Some may or may not do scans at that point looking at the path report. Depending on what is found from the SNB, adjuvent treatment.
IMHO – Interferon is a waste of time, not worth the minimal benefit with prolonged toxic side effects. For me, not worth it.
