6 months? That's not what my oncologist said. He told me every three months, for at least 2 years, if I remember right. Then if things still looked good, it would be every six months for the next 2 years. My old oncologist moved, but the new one I'm seeing is doing the same thing. I had a CT scan in May, and I go back for my next one next Tuesday.

My Mom saw her oncologist every 2 months until he knew that all tumors reacted (shrank and continued shrinking) then every 3 months after that. Because all tumors responded to ipi after 3 (2 month consults) her oncologist moved it to every 3 months.

She had a reoccurrence of a brain met, but because of the brain mets treated she was still seeing her radiation oncologist every 2 months.

Are you working with Melanoma specialist?  They seem to be more watchful than general oncologists…

                    Hi Pitina,

my consultant deals with head lung melanoma, he not just a melanoma speciallist . We do not have a speciallist were I live I think manchester is the nearest for me or London which would be a 3 hour trip by car.  I thought it was 3 months . It's a long story but I was getting checked every 3 months from stage 2 b over 4 years . I did mention regarding my back problem and other little things but they just put it down to my arthuritus . When eventually got scanned I had tumours liver lung and else were. They do not know if it was from when I had it removed first it was not clear but I did ask them if they could check as I was left from my GP a year saying the mole was nothing. They said I will be checked every 3 months and if it comes back it would show in lymph nodes well they was wrong . It must have already broke away and developed through my body straight to organs. So at this stage I have been treated with ippi with 50% reduction so he scanned me a month after finishing ippi cus he applied for keytruda if this did not work. So am guessing he wanted to scan early to see if I still had full response but now wait again for 6 months for scans. I see him in 2 months so will ask again .

                    Keep well
